Training reviews and volunteers
Training plans are frequently required by organisations as part a wider programme of work, or as part of a section review or staff development. Volunteers provide a valuable contribution to collections care activities and I have set up and supervised volunteer projects as well as provided training in the management of volunteers. In 2014, I produced a Best Practice Guide for the Archives and Records Association on working with volunteers and collections care projects.

An HLF funded Skills for the Future Training Plan - provided detailed proposals for: recruitment, documentation, training delivery, future employment opportunities and an evaluation framework. It identified the learning objectives for the programme and showed how each element (NVQ, generic training, conservation technician training) could be monitored and evaluated. |
Collections Care Manager at London Metropolitan Archives |
We successfully raised HLF funding for 3 trainees and 1 supervisor for an 18 month project to conserve and re-package 3,000 theatre plans. As part of that programme of work I produced a training plan and monitoring record. The plan included training for the supervisor as well as the trainees and they experienced both in-house and external training opportunities. |

I have undertaken external assessments for Icon’s Conservation Technician Qualification as part of the candidates final appraisal procedure since 2008. |

In 2004, together with a colleague, I reviewed the Conservation Training Scheme for Conservators which involved revising and re-writing the curriculum for the scheme. |
