Teaching and training

Collections care training and inspiring others is at the heart of any successful preservation strategy. No one person can carry out all the actions necessary to limit and prevent damage and whether it comes to disaster prevention, considerate handling or managing the environment - training is a key resource.

I am keen to develop bespoke training sessions for clients and have delivered in-house training on working with volunteers, handling, pest monitoring and archive packaging.

As well as in-house training, I have been invited to undertake teaching at the following organisations:

  • Camberwell College, Short course in preservation management and short course on fasciculing
  • University College London, Advanced Preservation module on the Diploma/MA in Archive studies and Records Management, Volunteering in collections care
  • Archives & Records Association, Conservation lecture week, Preparation of material for digitisation
  • West Dean College, School of Conservation, Introduction to collections care
  • Estonia National Archives, Preservation management and an introduction to the Icon accreditation system
"In the end we will conserve only what we love.
We love only what we understand.
We will understand only what we are taught about.”
